Last Wedensday we, as many other TEDx organizations around the world (178 to be exact), hosted a live stream from the TED2012: Full Spectrum conference in Long Beach, California. The expectations were high as we were about to watch session 5 titled “The Earth” from what can be argued to be the highlight of the TED year.
With about 130 people showing up, there was a great buzz going on, and excitement in the air. And what a beautiful, inspiring and mind-boggling session it was. From astonishing displays of mother earth to being presented with the harsh truth that if we don’t start to act soon, it might never be the same. T. Boone Pickens also provided us with a bit of laughter and The Civilians Investigative Theater musical performance pretty much summed it all up. The live events are always special, you really feel like taking part of the actual conference.
Afterwards we went down to Lyche for some mingling, and to hear what people had to say about it all. The general impression seemed to be that it was a session that really showed us the beauty of the earth, but also one that made you realize how vulnerable it is and that it is important to take action while we still can. Thank you to all who took time out of their day to join our event, it’s all about the community!
